Mother Nature please be nice

Do you think Mother Nature will give us another big break? I know it's a lot to ask especially since she was so nice to us on Wednesday. The snowstorm ended by the afternoon, so we were able to spend the evening with my husband's family and celebrate Little M's birthday and the anniversary of Josh's death. This was a minor miracle as far as we were concerned, we definitely think Josh probably whispered a little something into someone's ear and they listened.

Little M was so excited to see us and the look on his face when we sang him "Happy Birthday" was priceless.

We also watched the special video montage that had been created after Josh's death. And then we watched another video. In this one, the parish priest who had been the celebrant at Josh's funeral mass also used to be part of the Daily Mass t.v. broadcast which is shown across Canada. He had dedicated one of his homilies to Josh and we watched the video of it, most of us had never seen it before. It was perfect. It was wonderful to hear someone who actually knew Josh remember how very special he was, it was a brilliant and moving tribute.

We were very grateful that we were able to spend the evening with family. We had hoped that Josh's parents and siblings would also join us, but they are still really struggling and wanted to spend the day and evening alone. We really missed them and are so sad that their grief and suffering is so overwhelming for them.

We had also hoped that Josh's family would join us on our skiing trip to Colorado. It was one of the main reasons we had booked the trip. But, it's still too painful and difficult for them to join us. We are flying out of Buffalo tomorrow, which is when the big storm is supposed to be raging. We are really, really hoping that Mother Nature will give us another pass and let us fly out without delays. We are hopeful but being realistic. We are preparing ourselves for major delays and cancellations. So, if we do make it out on a flight it will be another miracle. I'm packing lots of snacks, drinks and games for the kids. Do you think I can get away with packing some martini glasses and some ready-made Cosmos for me? Well, wish us luck. If we do manage to get to Colorado, I'm not sure if I'll have internet service, so the posting may be light. In the meantime, I hope everyone has a great weekend and week. Take care.

I clicked the link you provided, read your tribute to Josh.

It was moving and beautiful. The love you had and continue to have for your nephew is clear in your words.

We're hunkering down in anticipation of the big storm -- they're calling for up to FIFTY cm's in my area -- but I hope you get to enjoy your weekend plans.

My heart hurts to read about your loss of your beloved nephew. How very, very sad.
I hope the weather cooperates. Oddly enough, we have mild - albeit cold - weather up north! I hope that you get some of that, too.
